What I Call “Hair Happiness”

On August 13, 2020, in News, by Bella Rapakousiou

Can I tell you a secret? I only wash my hair twice a week. Yeap, just two times a week. I used to wash my hair every day until I realized that it was a significant no-no. My hair looks so much better on day 2, 3, and even 4 if not washing it. The texture is perfect, and I actually have volume! Washing your hair every day strips your scalp of its natural microbiome and can cause dryness and inflammation. It can also make your hair look and feel lifeless and brittle (trust me, I know because this happened to me after years of doing it!) When you do wash your hair, you only need a quarter size amount – any more than that is a waste.

So, what do I use to keep my hair fresh and clean between washes? Dry shampoo. It’s my secret haircare weapon, and I never leave home without it! I have it with me wherever I go. I love the texture I get between washes. It really is so much more voluminous and holds curls way longer. Not all dry shampoos are created equal and achieve that full/fresh look, though. In fact, many leave behind a white powder and residue, which is super evident if you have dark hair like mine. I was so excited when I found out Kerastase’s fresh affair dry shampoo.

First of all, I loved the smell, and I am someone who is super sensitive to smells. Second of all, it’s completely clear and lightweight, so it left zero residues behind, which is rare for dry shampoos. And third, it works. My hair smelled great, was refreshing seconds after spraying it, and it felt stronger, especially after the second use. The dry shampoo is something I use multiple times a week – morning and night (if need be for date night!).

Falling in love with Kerastase, I couldn’t resist searching for a solution to another big problem of mine. Yep, I am sure you know exactly what I mean. It’s hair-fall. The symbol of our femininity. I think it’s not only me that feels like my hair is my “crowning glory.”  It’s a reflection of our identity. This intensely personal relationship between our hair and our self-esteem is evident throughout history, philosophy, and even religion.

So, when I was looking for solutions, I saw only medical products, mostly dedicated to men first. There is no hair-fall treatment made just for women associating beauty and efficiency. Kerastase is one step ahead. The new products from the Genesis series care for hair in such a way that hair breakage stopped. Hair loss is counteracted on the one hand by preventing hair breakage and, on the other hand, by strengthening and caring for the hair root.

Now, I can definitely state that I am incredibly excited that I have found what I call “hair happiness.” Do you?
